Alex Gorsky, Chairman and CEO of Johnson & Johnson Speaks at Columbia Prep

By Amanda P. '19

As part of an initiative to inspire students with exciting guest speakers, Student Government invited Mr. Alex Gorsky, Chairman and CEO of Johnson & Johnson, to Columbia Prep.

On March 8th, the Prep School theater was packed to the brim with students eager to hear Mr. Gorsky discuss the role of Johnson & Johnson in the global healthcare industry and his experiences as Chairman and CEO of a major, multinational corporation.

Months of planning made this “fireside chat” successful. Mr. Gorsky highlighted the excitement of innovation and technology in healthcare, noting Johnson & Johnson’s recent acquisition of Auris Health. Mr. Gorsky addressed questions submitted by students about the company’s responsibility to the environment and the example they set for other healthcare companies. The chat concluded with Mr. Gorsky offering advice to our students: in anything we pursue, stay healthy, take care of ourselves, and continue to seek knowledge throughout life.

Student Government thanks Mr. Genna, Prep School history teacher and advisor of the Business & Economics Club, for moderating and helping to prepare for the event.

We graciously thank Mr. Gorsky’s communications team for helping us plan and prepare an informative and compelling program. Thank you to Mr. Gorsky for taking time out of his extremely busy schedule to travel to New York City to our school, and for the knowledge and advice he imparted upon our community!
