7th Grade Musicians Share a Song about Kindness with the GS

By Ardith Collins, Middle School music teacher

7th grade students visited PreK and K students in Annie Ragsdale and Patricia Arenson's Music & Movement classes in the Grammar School to share an original song and dance they composed in Ardith Collins' General Music. The song, "Kindness," was composed by Paige S. ’24 as a culminating music technology composition assignment. The lyrics and dance were a collaborative effort with classmates Sloane S. ’24, Melissa S. ’24 and Alexa S. ’24.

The middle schoolers displayed outstanding leadership skills while teaching the song, modeling their dance and encouraging creativity from the Grammar School students. The PreK and K students learned quickly, and after just a few minutes, the room was filled with joyful singing and dance.

Thank you to Margo Potter, Abby Rojas, Chantal Balogh and Sarah McLean for their support of artistic collaboration across divisions at CGPS and to Annie and Tricia for allowing these 7th graders to share their work with PK and K!
