CGPS Students Receive Scholastic Art Awards and Mentions, Maintaining Long-standing Tradition of Artistic Achievement

For the past 15 years, CGPS students in grades 7-12 have participated in the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards Contest. Students submit work to the regional contest in December in hopes of winning one of the awards: a gold or silver key or an honorable mention. Gold key winners of the regional contest automatically have their work submitted for the national contest.

Categories include: photography, jewelry, drawing and illustration, painting, mixed media, film and animation and digital art. Students may submit to more than one category, and seniors can submit their entire portfolio for consideration for a scholarship or high-level award.

“The art department appreciates these awards because the submissions process is straightforward and simple, and the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards contest is one of the few long-standing contests for creative teens,” head of Prep School art department Lynn Schulte explained.

Submitting is easy and interested students can speak with their art teacher and visit the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards site for more information: https://www.artandwriting.org/who-we-are/.
