Parents Association’s Kindness Coffee Launch Gets a “Grande” Reception

By Stephanie Katzovicz, Pre-K, kindergarten and first grade Parents Association Co-President

On January 25, the spirit of kindness swept through the Grammar School cafeteria at the CGPS Parents Association’s first-ever Kindness Coffee. With homemade baked goods to enjoy, along with several donated gifts including “Be Kind” pins and copies of The Kindness Advantage, nearly thirty people gathered to celebrate kindness. Head of School Dr. William Donohue and Prep School Director Joanie Dean graciously stopped by to greet attendees, which included parents from every school division.

“It was so wonderful to see parents from all three divisions come together for this,” commented PA co-President Ava Schoenberg. “It was obviously something needed and appreciated by our community.”

The concept for Kindness Coffees was inspired by Head of Grammar School Sarah McLean’s “Year to Be Kind” theme, which promotes practicing kindness inside and outside of the classroom.

The event sent a great message to parents to convey to their children that, at any age, each of us should make the effort to be kind.

While Kindness Coffees are generally planned for the last Friday of each month, the next coffee will be a special “coffee and cocoa” combined event with the Welcome Committee on Tuesday, March 12.

Attendees can expect more baked goods, fun surprises, and, of course, plenty of kindness.
