PS Graduation Is a Wonderful Occasion

On Thursday, the Class of 2019 merrily tossed their caps into the air in Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center as they became graduates of Columbia Grammar & Preparatory School. Making for a wondrous occasion sure to inspire cherished memories for years to come, the commencement activities included moving and humorous speeches from Head of School Dr. William M. Donohue, Prep School Director Joanie Dean, top-ranking seniors Jared Wasserman, Julia Gardner, Gordon Horowitz and Bi Tian Yuan and the keynote speaker, journalist Anderson Cooper. In their commencement addresses, Dr. Donohue encouraged the graduates to revel in their curiosity, Julia invited her classmates to think deeply about who they are and Mr. Cooper urged them to live what poet Mary Oliver describes as “your one wild and precious life” to the fullest. As our newest alumni embark on their post-CGPS journeys, embracing these wise pieces of advice as they venture to college and beyond, we would like to say: good luck and thank you for inspiring us each day!
